Build a Wall!

In the movie “Facing the Giants” Coach Grant Taylor coined the phrase, “Build a wall.” He used this phrase to encourage his players at specific moments in order to challenge them to “dig deep, find strength to hold the line!” In many ways we can declare this phrase over our lives concerning today’s events! Apostle Paul said it this way in Ephesians 6, “Having done all to stand, stand.”

Today there are many voices declaring many “thus sayeth the Lord”. We must use the Word as our foundation, giving to spiritual ears to hear what is of God and what is not of God. I Thess. 5:20 says to not despise prophesies, but to test all things and hold fast to what is good. The Holy Spirit within us will affirm what is of God as we use His Word as our plum line.

God always has a “now word” for His people – both in the good times and in the troublesome times. In Acts 14:21-23 Paul and his ministry team had a now word for the believers of Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch. They were experiencing a powerful move of God but were also facing much conflict. Paul’s now word was, “We must through many trials and tribulations enter the Kingdom of God.” Was this a doom and gloom word? No…far from it!! Just another way of saying “build a wall”!

We must dig in and gird up our loins with truth and faith!! Jack Hayford writes, “The Bible teaches that suffering, trial, and all order of human difficulty are unavoidable. But God’s Word also teaches that they all may be overcome!”

The presence of the King and the power of His Kingdom in our lives make us neither invulnerable nor immune to life’s struggles. But they do bring the promise of victory! Provision in need, strength for the day! Healing, comfort and saving help!!

So keep abiding, keep sowing the Word, keep flowing in the Holy Spirit! And keep the door to fear closed!!

Food for Thought

In light of the current change of lifestyle, with more downtime and time at home, the excuse of not having enough time to meet with God now seems irrational!

Isa. 26:20 is definitely a verse for today!
“Come My people, enter your chambers and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the fury has passed.” (English Standard Version)
